Age of Empires : Rise of Rome

by Ensemble Studios / Microsoft

Introduction

How would you like to direct and orchestrate the great pageant of history as it unfolds before your eyes? If you relish deciding the fate of nations with a click of a mouse, or enjoy seeing how easily history may have changed as a result of some inconsequential tribal war early in the growth of an empire -in short, if you enjoyed Age of Empires immensely and are eager for more, look no further. Age of Kings this isn't, but until that long awaited day dawns, this is as good as it will get. Age of Empires: Rise of Rome is a fascinating expansion pack for a great game, including five new units & four new technologies, not to mention three full campaigns. Other than the Roman Empire, three
other civilizations -Macedonia, Carthage & Palmyra- are also modeled in the game. The game itself
is based on 20 new single player missions divided into four separate campaigns. Game play is smoother and some of the bugs that plagued Age of Empires have been fixed.

New additions also include bigger maps, adjustable population limits and the ability to queue production. Not all the bugs have been eradicated, though- you can queue only one type of unit.
Other than such minor hindrances, this is bound to be very enjoyable for the strategy game connoisseur, and a definite must-have for the Age of Empires fanatic.
