 · 3dfx Voodoo 2 Reference Drivers for Win 95/98

The latest Voodoo 2 reference drivers released for Windows 95/98 from 3dfx, these runtime drivers for Voodoo 2 on Windows 95/98 include: Glide 2.56, Glide 3.03, Direct3D, DirectX 6.x, support for AMD 3DNow! and the Voodoo 2 Control Panel. This is the minimum set of drivers that you'll need to run your Voodoo 2 board. Note: These drivers will not work on Voodoo Banshee, Voodoo Rush, or Voodoo Graphics-based cards.

You want to hack into games and cheat, but you don’t know how? Cheater’s Lair is probably custom-made for you, then. Other than a database of cheat codes for over 700 games, you also get an add-on that lets you patch games without knowing hex code. This version adds support for multiple platforms, some new user options and an improved interface. Registration is $9.95, and registering will entitle you to free database upgrades, the ability to copy cheat files to text files and to the clipboard.

 · 1st Java Navigator

The fifth generation of Auscomp's 1st Java Navigator is a package that allows you to create an entire website, intranet or extranet system with your choice of different styles of navigation including a Javascript drop-down box navigation style, an HTML site map, a Javascript tree view and more. The look and feel of the Navigator is entirely customizable using themes. The free trial is valid for 28 days.

 · 3D Rad

3D Rad is a 3D application development system. Like what? Say, 3D games? This is a great way to build your own interactive 3D worlds, with a 3D engine that supports hardware acceleration, dynamic-colored multiple light sources, translucent textures, fog effects, and Gouraud shading. You can try it free for 15 days. The registered version is $49

 · Microsoft Windows Media Player (Intel)

Based on the DirectShow architecture, MS Windows Media Player is meant to provide you with the most flexible and convenient player for multimedia content. File formats you can play include Windows Media, ASF, RealVideo/RealAudio 4.0, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, WAV, AVI, MIDI, MOV, VOD, AU, MP3, and QuickTime files, which is a pretty impressive list. You get a Favorites menu to save your favorite files for easy replay. When you access an audio/video clip, Windows Media Player will check whether the required codec is installed, and if not, automatically download and install it for you. Windows Media Player 6.2 beta is required to play content protected with Windows Media Rights Manager.

 · MusicMatch Jukebox

MusicMatch Jukebox is a pile of different digital music management features rolled into one- a CD ripper, mp3 and RealAudio encoder, ID3 tag editor, media player and playlist maker. The CD ripper uses Xing MPEG technology to extract CD audio and encode directly to MP3 format with no intermediary WAV file. Other features include CDDB support, a player that displays cover art, lyrics, track notes and artist bios for each track as it plays, MP3 to WAV conversion and exporting playlists to the Diamond Rio portable mp3 player. This version adds advanced recording capabilities and multiple GUI themes. The catch? You can record an unlimited amount of tracks with the shareware version…. at 96kbps. The registration cost is $29.95

 · NetSonic

NetSonic is a great little app that has a considerable effect on your web browsing speed. If you’re tired of waiting for your favorite page to load every day only to find that it hasn’t been updated, this is a must-have for you. NetSonic stores web pages in its cache and reloads the page instantaneously the next time you visit the site on the web. Simultaneously, the program checks whether the web page has changed since the last time you visited it. If so, you’ll hear a beep and your cursor will briefly change to the NetSonic jet icon. You can display the updated page by simply hitting your browser’s refresh button. This version fixes a few bugs and problems reported with other programs running at the same time with NetSonic.

This is build 1800 of version 2.22 of the 99a beta, the latest release of ICQ ("I seek you"), the popular real-time messaging program. ICQ lets you seek out friends on the ICQ network by entering their name, nickname, email address, or their ICQ number if you have it. Once you locate them, you can set up your contact list (and organize them into categories with the Groups feature if you have a large contact list). You’ll be notified when any of these people are online, and you can chat, send instant messages, files and URLs back and forth. This version also includes a pile of built-in services like notes, to-do lists, reminders, and so forth, thereby combining a considerable list of features into a single application.

 · Winamp v2.24

Unless you’ve never heard of MP3s before, it’s probable that you’ve already heard of and used some version of Winamp. This is version 2.24 of a high-quality MPEG audio player for MPEG Layer 2 and Layer 3 (MP2 and MP3, to put it simply) audio. Winamp includes a playlist editor, 10-band graphic equalizer with user-definable presets, skin & visualization support, Windows Media technology 4.0 input/output support and the Fraunhofer MP3 dcoder. If you’re looking for a small, non-elaborate and efficient MP3 player, this is a good choice.

 · CuteFTP (32-bit) v3.0.2

A file transfer application with a cute interface that makes it easy for beginners to learn the ropes. CuteFTP is also packed with enough features to make it a viable choice for the power downloader as well- it features drag & drop, download resuming, bookmarks, directory upload, queued up/download and –this one is really useful- remote file editing. Other features include includes MP3 and file searching and a Site Wizard (for those who need help connecting to an FTP site to begin with) as well as a feature that lets the program automatically reconnect and resume a file transfer until the requested file is completely up/downloaded- sheer stubbornness has finally been integrated into software. Altogether a great app for anybody who needs to upload or download files regularly. This is a 30-day trial including CuteHTML. After the 30 days elapse, banner ads will be displayed in the main window. You can avoid this by registering CuteFTP for $39.95.

 · Microsoft Unimodem V

The newest release of Unimodem, the Windows universal modem driver/telephony service provider for data/fax modems. This version adds several new features, such as wave playback and recording to and from the phone line, caller ID, call forwarding and support for speakerphones. You already have all these features if you use the Unimodem driver included with Windows 98.

 · PowerUp 98 Deluxe 1.32

This is a system tweaking utility that allows you to tweak your system’s standard settings and various options and functions of Windows, all with an intuitive interface so that you don’t get lost in the entrails of your own system, integrating the configuration options and your favorite tools and utilities in a single package. The trial version allows 10 uses, but you can double this to 20 with the following special registration code: PUP02A-999987-0318

 · WindowBlinds

Tired of the way your desktop looks? You change your desktop theme but that only changes the icons, cursors and color scheme, along with inconsequentials like wallpaper and screensavers. WindowBlinds is a great utility that allows you to really customize your desktop, changing the style of title bars, buttons, check boxes and toolbars, assign buttons to toolbars that will launch programs of your choice. Several WindowBlinds skins are included with the program, but you can download additional ones or even make your own. You can even exclude specific programs of your choice from WindowBlinds if you don’t want to change their appearance. Version 0.95 adds semitransparent menus and drop shadows on Windows 2000, optional lighting effects on the desktop, mouseover highlight effects and improves on stability and performance. You get a nag screen on startup for registration (stuff like this is never freeware), which costs $19.95. If you’re tired of the bland look of those buttons and toolbars, try this without fail.

 · Dark Forces

A playable demo, this game puts you in the persona of a Rebel spy charged with stealing the secret plans to the Imperial Death Star, the Empire’s super-weapon.

 · MechWarrior 3

MechWarrior 3 is a first-person shooter of the mech variety. This demo includes three mechs for you to choose between, with about ten different types of mechs that you can encounter during the game. You get only one of the games playable modes in the demo, where you get to fight ten waves of enemy mechs in order of increasing difficulty. Not all of the weapons and equipment in Mechwarrior 3 are included in this demo. You have to first download an 87K Gigex file. After you get this file, run the executable while maintaining your Internet connection. The full download of the 34.6MB demo will begin, with the capability to resume broken downloads.

 · Rage 128 Windows 95b/98 Display Driver

This is the latest display driver released by ATI for the Rage 128; a special-purpose driver optimized for Quake 3, 3DNow! with the AMD K6 and SSE with the Intel Pentium III. It also includes support for resolutions up to 1920-by-1440 and includes a setup program that installs the driver without going through the display properties box. This is a Windows 95b/98 driver set with an integrated OpenGL ICD component and requires the Microsoft software OpenGL driver for proper operation, OpenGL32.DLL- this file should be located in your Windows system directory. Microsoft's DirectX 6.1 Runtime is also required for use with this driver. This driver contains support in English only.

If you loved Star Wars Episode I and are particularly fond of Jar Jar Binks, it’s hard to see how you could turn this one down. The Gungan city is threatened by overpopulation, and you, as a hero of the Battle of Naboo, have been entrusted with the task of establishing a colony on Naboo’s barren moon. You get to choose which life forms are transported to the moon and when they are introduced into your own little ecosphere. You must create a well-balanced ecological environment first, and then only can a new Gungan civilization be born in a new underwater bubble city. This is the first ever Star Wars eco-simulation, including features like 360-degree, 3D views of the landscape and population through multiple zoom levels and the option of designing your own unique alien species in Create-a-Critter mode. Ok, so you would probably enjoy this game even if you didn’t like Jar Jar Binks
